About The Event

The Sunday rides will take both the long and short groups from our starting point in the picturesque countryside setting near Carsington Reservoir and into the heart of the Peak District where you will experience some testing but rewarding climbs. Take your time and walk if you have to, but get up there and the rewards are amazing.

Event Warm up:

For those of you that want to start your experience on Saturday, we plan to have an early afternoon ride up to the scenic spa town of Matlock Bath for some classic fish and chips and a cable car ride up the Heights of Abraham. For the more energetic, sprightly and collectors of the Top 100 Climbs badges, you can earn yourself number 31 Bank Road and 32 Riber with some lung busting 20 – 25% climbs!

Starting later in the afternoon there will also be a shorter and leisurely 15 miler ride to the historic village of Repton and up to Foremark Reservoir.

We regroup back at the Mosque around 20:30 and head-off to experience the legendary Derby Kebabs (or anything you fancy) at one of the local restaurants.

A bit more about the ride:

For those on the long route, we couldn’t come into the Peaks without including at least one of the famous 100 climbs and we’ve chosen an absolute beauty, Rowsley Bar peaking at 25%. Fear not, there’ll be a by-pass for the those that haven’t come equipped to tackle this climb.  On the way back, the route takes you on a steady climb out of the famous town of Bakewell and into yet more amazing scenery, before rolling down back to a well-earned lunch of Pakistani/Punjabi cuisine.

The short route is equally scenic and starts with nice fast downhill 5 miles section to the only climb of the day up to Alport Heights.  Although long, it’s a relatively gentle climb up to the communication towers where the views extend for over 40 miles, into the heart of Birmingham. From there it’s rolling hills, mostly down, through the stunning peaks and into the historic town of Ashbourne before you work up an appetite with a ride back up to the venue to enjoy a mouth-watering feast that’ll linger in your memories for years to come.
